Anxiety

I just got back from a mission trip to Jamaica. I know, Jamaica and Mission trip don't seem like they belong in the same sentence. However, most of Jamaica is a very poor country in need of the Lord. I went with my boss, one of his good friends, and another audiologist. We spent the week at three different Christian schools for the deaf fitting hearing aids on the little kids there. It was so precious working with them and I am going to have a large post coming soon about my trip for you. Before I do that, I need to talk about the night before I left.

If you know me well, you know that I am terrified of flying. If you do not know me well, I need to tell you that flying is literally a phobia of mine. Yes, I have flown quite a few times before, but I have never done so gracefully. It's best to just knock me out and wake me up when we get there.
So as you can imagine, I was really nervous and experiencing A LOT of anxiety Sunday night before we left. I was so emotional in the evening church service, I think I just cried the entire time. We walked out to the parking lot at church and got in my car to drive home. As we were driving through the parking lot I saw one of my friends and we stopped just to say hi and to talk about my trip. As we were talking a HUGE dually truck (I mean think farm boy pimp out my ride too big for the road type truck) starts to back up going mach3 towards my driver's side door where Daniel was. I grabbed onto Daniel and braced for impact. It happened so fast, and I still don't know where he had to go THAT fast, but we couldn't do anything but scream and lay on the horn. It didn't phase him, he hit us with crazy force and didn't stop-we were going up on 2 wheels. He finally realized he wasn't going anywhere and took his foot off of the gas. When I grabbed Daniel my hand was on the window and when the window shattered it busted up my finger (I won't post that picture) we were picking glass out of it for a while. Here is what my car looked like:

So as if I my anxiety wasn't already crazy, it was now off the charts. I had to have some serious time in prayer that night and calm myself down through scripture. Well, I made it through the flights and I discovered that I am STILL a horrible flyer, but I made it home safe and sound and I am so glad that I went. When I got home, here is the rental the insurance company had provided for me to drive....I didn't want to let it go!

I now have my car back and the detailers did a great job with it. I was so worried that I was going to have a blue car with a brown door! I love my car and am happy to be home. Pictures of Jamaica coming soon!
